Before joining our SilkRoad Moments Tourism family, Şeyma joined us on a tour around the Karadeniz, the Black Sea region of Turkey. She recapped her reactions on the trip below.
At the beginning, the thing that made this tour attractive for me was my love for greenery and desire to see the Black Sea. At the same time, a photo which had been at my home since my childhood, was taken from Boztepe, Ordu. I never had the opportunity to see those places that ı wanted during my life and finally, it was time to make a move. It was exciting that all of our group had been consisting of people from different cultures than mine.
First of all, we faced a perfect transportation, we travelled comfortably and safely even on the hardest roads to drive. I can say that SilkRoad Moments had the best driver I have ever seen. Since the Black Sea is a mountainous region and houses are mostly on the top of hills, I felt captivated by the view. Dozens of tiny, cute houses. You should definitely see this view. Ordu, the city that I had gone for its photos was worth it, especially Boztepe was much more beautiful than the photo.
The hotel we stayed was so comfortable and close to the sea that ı am sure it had been chosen carefully. We had the richest breakfast of my life in Ordu, and I definitely enjoyed a lot from breakfast which is the most beautiful part of our culture in my opinion. Ordu is a very special city that gives people peace , I only looked around and breathed to feel the peace. It was absolutely an advantage for us that Ordu was too close to Giresun, thus we had the privilege to visit another city in a day. There were many legends about the island we visited in Giresun and there were only birds living on the island. Visiting an island which has archeological work on it, holds many legends and myths and has only a great number of birds as locals. Yes, it is a stunning feeling as you guess!
I can say that Trabzon part of our tour was mostly related to the history and handicraft. Sumela Monastery was a place that I couldn’t even imagine to see, but SilkRoad Moments team, with their perfect timing, caught the date which the monastery reopens and made the thing that wouldn’t be even my dream real. Visiting Hagia Sofia was as mystical and pleasing as visiting Sumela Monastery. All of these were more than hearing about history, it was feeling the history. I felt the hope, love and belief of the people who had lived and worshipped there. Trabzon gave us more than history; we enjoyed viewing Sürmene knives for men and han- made silver jewelry for women.
The Rize- Ayder part of our tour was one of the most green parts of it. When someone had said the name ‘Ayder’ I had been imagining green hills and freshly brewed tea. In real, hills were much more green and the tea was fresher and darker. People were rolling down the green hills and they were doing that for fun. Sitting on somewhere and watching those rolling people was fun for me too. All American friends in my group tried a scarf covering technique which had been created by women in Hemşin and suddenly everybody looked like Black Sea people. A cloth or an accessory shows you as if you come from somewhere else, I witnessed this magic and I loved it. The rafting I had experienced in Fırtına Deresi, Ayder was the first and the most special experience of my life. Although I don’t know how to swim, I experienced it with encouragement of my group friends, and I never regretted. Ayder offered us rafting, huge swings, zipline and many other things but only rafting was enough for me. However, SilkRoad Moments was ready for the ones who wanted more and they exceeded expectations.
We got ready to give a hug to the black lakes and green shades of Artvin, while we were leaving behind the green hills of Rize. There were two lakes which has the same name in this city and both of them were extremely beautiful. I lost myself with the beauty of trees and dark green lakes that are called ‘black’. I saw the most beautiful shades of green and blue on the way where I thought I would see only greenery. Turkey is a very rich country about culture and SilkRoad Moments offered a tour in which we can see all beauty of this culture. Turkish village breakfasts, delicious local food, traditional dresses and accessories, whole beauty of nature, good humour of local food, historical places, opportunity to experience rafting, huge swings, ziplining, and transculturation in our group were all great!
I wanted to talk about music and dance of the region in a separate section because The Black Sea region was like a totally different World with its special musical instruments and dance style and SilkRoad Moments all advance pulled us in. It was not problem whether we had known how to dance or not because horon was calling us with its pace and enthusiasm. I can say that the musical instrument called ‘tulum’ is a kind of time machine since it takes you to Scotland when you close your eyes and to the Black Sea when you reopen them. I suggest you to taste not only local food but also musical instruments if you have a chance to visit The Black Sea.
I want to thank to SilkRoad Moments that make me experience the most colorful, the most entertaining and the most different 7 days of my life.
Şeyma SilkRoad Moments turizm ailemize katılmadan önce Türkiye'deki Karadeniz turumuza katıldı.Gezideki izlenimlerini aşağıdaki şekilde aktardı.
Başlangıçta bu turu benim için çekici yapan şey; yeşil sevgim yüzünden Karadenizi görme isteğim ve evimde çocukluğumdan beri bulunan Ordu Boztepe’de çekilmiş bir resimdi.Hayatım boyunca görmek istediğim bu yerleri görmek için fırsatım olmamıştı ve artık harekete geçme zamanıydı.İçinde bulunacağım grubun tamamının benimkinden farklı kültürlerden olması heyecan vericiydi.Her şeyden önce tur boyunca harika bir taşımacılıkla karşılaştık, en zor yollarda bile konforlu ve güvenli seyahat ettik. SilkRoad moments bu zamana kadar gördüğüm en iyi şoförü bulmuş diyebilirim. Karadeniz çok dağlık bir bölge ve evler çokyüksekte olduğu için manzara karşısında büyülendim. Yeşil dağların arasında onlarca küçük tatlı ev. Bu manzarayı kesinlikle görmelisiniz.
Ordu yani resimleri için gittiğim şehir kesinlikle buna değerdi, özellikle Boztepe resimlerdekinden çok daha güzeldi. Kaldığımız otel denize çok yakın ve konforlu bir oteldi ve kesinlikle özenle seçilmişti. Orada hayatımın en zengin kahvaltısını yaptık ve bana göre kültürümüzün en güzel parçasından kesinlikle çok keyif aldım. Ordu insana huzur veren özel bir şehir, huzur bulmak için sadece etrafa bakıp nefes aldım. Giresun’a çok yakın olması kesinlikle avantajdı, böylece gün içinde başka bir şehri gezme ayrıcalığı yaşadık. Giresun’da gittiğimiz ada ile ilgili birçok efsane vardı ve adada sadece kuşlar yaşıyordu. Arkeolojik çalışmaların yapıldığı, içinde onlarca efsane barındıran ve yerel halkını sadece kuşların oluşturduğu bir adayı gezmek… Evet, tahmin edeceğiniz gibi bu çok hoş bir duygu!
Turumuzun Trabzon kısmı daha çok tarih ve zanaatla ilgiliydi diyebilirim. Sümela Manastırı görmeyi hayal bile edemeyeceğim bir yerdi ve SilkRoad Moments harika zamanlamasıyla manastırın açıldığı dönemi yakaladı vebenim için hayal bile olamayacak bir şeyi gerçek yaptı. Ayasofyayı görmek de bir o kadar mistik ve keyifliydi. Tüm bunlar tarihi duymaktan fazlasıydı, tarihi hissetmekti. Orada yaşamış ve ibadet etmiş insanların umut, sevgi ve inancını hissettim. Trabzon bize tarihten fazlasını verdi, erkekler için ünlü sürmene bıçaklarını ve kadınlar için el yapımı mücevherleri keyifle inceledik.
Turumuzun Rize- Ayder kısmı, gördüğüm en yeşil kısımlarından biriydi. Ayder deyince aklımayeşil tepeler vetazedemli çay geliyordu. Gerçekte tepeler çok daha yeşil, çay çok daha demli ve tazeydi. Yeşil tepelerden insanlar yuvarlanıyordu ve bunu eğlenmek için yapıyorlardı. Bir yere oturup, yuvarlanan insanları izlemek benim için de çok eğlenceliydi. Grubumdaki bütün Amerikalı arkadaşlar Hemşin kadınlarına özel bir baş örtü bağlama tekniği denediler ve bir anda herkes Karadenizli oldu. Bir kıyafet ya da aksesuar sizi aniden başka bir yere ait gösteriyor, bu sihire tanık oldum ve çok sevdim. Ayder Fırtına deresinde yaptığım rafting, hayatımın ilk ve en özel deneyimiydi. Yüzme bilmediğim halde grup arkadaşlarımın cesaretlendirmesi ile bu deneyimi yaşadım ve asla pişman değilim. Ayder bize rafting, dev salıncaklar, zipline ve daha birçok şey sundu ama rafting benim için yeterliydi. Yine de SilkRoad Moments her zaman daha fazlasını isteyenler için hazırlıklıydı ve tüm beklentileri hatta fazlasını karşıladı.
Rize’nin yeşil tepelerini arkamızda bırakıp Artvin’in yeşiline ve Karagöllerine kucak açmaya hazırlandık. Bu şehirde aynı isimde iki göl vardı ve ikisi de birbirinden güzeldi. Ağaçların ve ismi ‘kara’ olan göllerin yeşilinin güzelliğinde kayboldum. Sadece yeşil için çıktığım yolda yeşilin ve mavinin en güzel tonlarını gördüm. Türkiye kültür konusunda çok zengin bir ülke ve SilkRoad moments bu kültürün tüm güzelliklerini ortaya çıkardığı bir gezi sundu. Köy kahvaltıları, lezzetli yöresel yemekler, geleneksel kıyafetler ve aksesuarlar, doğanın tüm güzelliği, yerli halkın güler yüzlülüğü, tarihi yerler, rafting, dev salıncaklar, zipline deneyimi fırsatları ve grubumuzdaki kültür kaynaşması harikaydı.
Bölgeye özel müzik ve danslardan ayrıca bahsetmek istedim, çünkü Karadeniz kendine has müzik aletleri ve danslarıyla başka bir dünya gibiydi ve SilkRoad Moments bizi bu dünyanın içine aniden çekiverdi. Dans etmeyi biliyor olup olmamamız asla sorun değildi çünkü horon bütün temposu ve coşkusuyla bizi çağırıyordu. ‘Tulum’ adındaki müzik aleti gözümü kapattığınızda İskoçya, açtığınızda Karadenizde bulunmanızı sağladığı için bir çeşit zaman makinesidir. Siz de Karadeniz’de bulunmak fırsatına sahip olursanız yemekler kadar enstrumanların datadına bakmanızı öneririm.
