Day 1 - Van Surroundings

Your guide and driver will pick you up after breakfast and head toward the fortresses Hosap Castle. This castle stands on the grounds of an ancient Urartian Fortress. Next, see Cavustepe Castle, also a site from the Kingdom of Urartu. Your guide will tell you about the Urartian language and the historical significance of this place. From there, travel to the 7 Churches Armenian Village.

Day 2 - 360 Degree Van Lake

Today you'll take a tour all the way around the incredible Van Lake. This is the largest lake in Turkey -- so big, in fact, the locals call it a sea. See the picturesque Muradiye Waterfall then explore the cemetery of Ahlat. In Ahlat, you'll find graves dating back over 2000 years. Important people throughout history have been buried here and there are plenty of interesting Ottoman gravestones as well. Visit the Cat Museum of Van, which houses the area's unique and famous cats with white coats and different colored eyes.

Day 3 - Van Old City

See Van Museum and learn about the ancient civilization of Urartia (Kingdom of Urartu) and see Urartian inscriptions. Then hike up to the impressive Castle of Van. Walk the streets of the quaint Old City. Then, take a boat tour on Van Lake to Akdamar Island. On this island, you will find the Church of the Holy Cross. It's a beautiful place to explore (no cars!).
